Andrea Azevedo takes the helm at the JBS Fund for the Amazon

JBS are pleased to welcome Andrea Azevedo as the new Sustainability Directorate of the JBS Fund for the Amazon – the flagship investment fund created by the Company to promote the socioeconomic development and conservation of the Biome.

With academic degrees in Biology, Environmental Education, in addition to a masters in Environmental Economics and PhD in Sustainable Development, Andrea brings over twenty years of experience in the field of the Amazon environment. Andrea has previously worked on sustainability projects involving public environmental policies, low carbon agriculture, policies for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Andrea also has previous experience in in multiple stakeholder groups involving the livestock production sector and civil society, deforestation and implementation of the Forest Code.

Welcoming the addition of Andrea’s expertise to the diverse team at the JBS Fund for the Amazon, Joanita Maestri Karoleski, the Fund’s president said: “Andrea will have an essential role in the integrated approach to the fund’s programs and projects, as well as in communication and relationships with potential investors, government and civil society. It makes us proud to have a woman with such a commanding professional background in our team, working for the environmental preservation and the socioeconomic development of the Amazon.”

The Fund has an ambitious target of raising R$ 1 billion by 2030, with JBS agreeing to match additional third-party donations until its own contribution reaches R$ 500 million.
