JBS continues to advance in green rankings across the board

In December 2020, JBS was pleased to receive confirmation that CDP, the largest and most respected global platform of corporate sustainability information, had rated the Group as the best among Brazilian companies in the Food, Beverage & Tobaccosector.

JBS was scored on three criteria: Climate ChangeWater Security; and Forests (subdivided into the categories Wood, Cattle and Soy). In the latest 2020 rankings, JBS rose from B to A- in Climate Change, from B- to B in ForestsSoy, maintaining score B in the other items analyzed.

Commenting on the company’s progress, Márcio Nappo, Sustainability Director of JBS said: “JBS has been working hard on the transition to a low-carbon economy and we are pleased with the results achieved this year. The progress in Climate Change especially reflects our growing commitment to the reduction in emissions, with consistent actions to engage our suppliers, in addition to delivering increasingly transparent data to the market.”

Already in the first week of 2021, JBS has been notified that is has been selected to be part of the Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2) of the B3 stock exchange, which takes into account the commitment of companies to greenhouse gas reduction target. The ICO2, launched in 2010, aims to be an instrument to encourage the debate on climate change in Brazil. The Company’s inclusion in the ICO2 demonstrates its engagement to the transparency of its emissions and ratifies its commitment to the sustainability of its operations.

These certifications, combined with JBS advancing up the November 2020 edition of the Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index, where the Company jumped eight positions in the overall classification, further demonstrates the ongoing commitment of JBS to advance its sustainable practices and transparency.
